Privacy and cookie policy

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller for omicsdesk.com is OmicsDesk (Alessandro De Santis). For anything concerning your personal data, write to hello@omicsdesk.com. We are not required to appoint a Data Protection Officer.

What this site collects

Nothing you do not send us

There is no account, no login, no newsletter form and no upload form on this site. The only way to give us your details is to email us. When you do, we process your name, email address, organisation and whatever you choose to write, in order to answer you and, if it goes further, to prepare a quote. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in replying to a business enquiry, and the steps taken at your request before a contract (Article 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Server and security logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes the technical data every web request carries, including your IP address, user agent and the page requested, to deliver the page and to protect the site from attacks. This happens for every visitor and cannot be switched off, because without it the site cannot be served safely. Legal basis: legitimate interest in the security and availability of the service. Cloudflare acts as our processor.

Analytics, only if you accept

If you click Accept analytics, the site loads Cloudflare Web Analytics. It is cookie free: it stores nothing on your device, does not follow you across sites and builds no profile. We see aggregated page views, referrers and countries. If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, that script is never loaded. Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time from the link at the bottom of every page.

Fonts and other assets

Fonts, images and stylesheets are served from omicsdesk.com itself. Loading a page on this site sends no request to Google, to a font CDN, or to any social network.

Client research data

Sequencing data, count matrices and any other research data belonging to clients are never uploaded through this website. They are exchanged under a separate agreement, with an NDA on request, and are covered by that agreement rather than by this policy.

You can change your analytics choice at any time using , also linked in the footer of every page. You can additionally block or delete storage through your browser settings, without breaking the site.

Sharing and transfers

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising. The only recipients are the suppliers that make the service work: Cloudflare for hosting, security and analytics, and our email provider for the messages you send us. Some of these providers operate servers outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, transfers rely on the European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, on the EU US Data Privacy Framework.

How long we keep things

Email correspondence about an enquiry is kept for up to 24 months from the last message, or for as long as an ongoing contract and the tax rules that apply to it require. Security logs are kept for a short period by Cloudflare according to their retention policy. Aggregated analytics contain no personal data once aggregated.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to your data, correction, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting what was done before. Write to hello@omicsdesk.com and we will answer within one month. If you are not satisfied, you can lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority. In Italy this is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, garanteprivacy.it.

Changes to this policy

If we add a tool that processes personal data, this page is updated and, where the new tool requires consent, the banner is shown again so you can make a fresh choice. The date at the top of the page always reflects the current version.
